Enough Already!

O.K., then. I am attempting to pull myself away from this pity party I have been indulging in for far too long. Im not going to say that I will be successful in completely snapping out of it, but I will try my best. Hows that? A little more promising.

Definitely better than the silly space filling quizzes though!

Lets see, whats new? I think the subject most on my mind these days is where the girls will be going to school next year. Its no secret that I am fighting tooth and nail to keep them in the school they've been in since they attended mommy and me classes.

To stay with the kids they've grown up with, in a school I really think, despite its issues (and there are a few), is providing them with a great education. The problem? $$$ of course. S is moving on to kindergarten in September. That means two in day school, two day school tuitions. The numbers are scary. I should know in the next couple of weeks if I will receive any sort of financial assistance. If I do, whether it will be enough to send both girls, whether I should keep G if the scholarship isnt enough and should I start S at our public school.

Its awful. I hate the idea that I may deprive S of the education that G has had the benefit of all these years. Public school, our local school, isn't a bad school. But it is overcrowded and doesn't offer the things that their current school offers. I feel so bad that I may be depriving S of these same opportunities.

I think the years at the school have given G a wonderful start, a foundation, a base to grow from. I cant explain it, because it is a religious day school, the history, tradition and language is just something that is taught and learned naturally. Seamless. J's dad and my mom could easily help but they wont. I dont understand. I know there is no obligation, no requirement. So many families at the school have family help, but ours doesnt, makes me feel really sad. To want so desperately to give your children the best start you can but be unable to on your own and have no where to turn for help.

On that note, the bright side...G is just blossoming in her voice lessons. I havent a clue where she gets her voice. Not from J, not from me. She is unbelievable. Her voice teacher tells us she is one of his favorites, her expressions and self confidence have improved so much since beginning her lessons. For that I am grateful to my mom. Without her help financially, she wouldnt have the opportunity for lessons. She's also testing for her purple belt in karate in a couple of weeks. Im very proud, she's very determined and takes it very seriously. I love to see that determination and dedication.

S is a spitfire! She is doing fantastically in her ice skating classes. Being promoted to the next level and is going to take part in a ice show in June. Just her style. Theatrics on ice. S for sure! She also just went back to karate (had tried it at 4 and was good but the concentration wasnt there). She's doing really well and only has been caught twirling her hair in the mirror a couple of times. Such a character!

As for me. Im still pulling myself out. Dont feel much control in life at the moment, but nothing is awful. Again, we are healthy, have a nice home, nice dogs (except one of them who is a terror, but cute, definitely gets by on her looks). Maybe just maybe we'll be able to finagle a trip this summer. That would be a "good thing". S has never been on a plane before. We're thinking NY. Maybe London believe it or not. My cousin is a writer and is developing a stage adaptation of a show for London that is supopsed to begin in the summer. More details as I know and as I am told its o.k. to share ;-)

Knitting wise, I am 1/2 done with my very first sweater for myself! Its a modified moss stitch jacket in a rich deep green, I love it. Cant believe that a year ago I was not a knitter. Im slightly obsessed now. Pix to come soon. I also have a baby to knit for. My close friend, who I teach with, is preggers, I think its a girl. We'll see....
